The Late Late Show (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

It’s a Eurovision special tonight, with some of Ireland’s Eurovision alumni making an appearance on The Late Late. Paul Harrington, Charlie McGettigan and Linda Martin will perform some of the contest’s biggest hits, and then they’ll take part in a game of ‘Eurovision Spin and Sing’ with Jake Carter, Ronan Johnston and Rory Cowan. If you think that’s too cheesy, stop reading now, because it only gets worse. Ryan Tubridy will also be joined by The Happy Pear twins Dave and Steve Flynn.

The Commitments (TV3, 9pm)

The Commitments, based on the novel from Roddy Doyle’s Barrystown Trilogy, tells the story of a music promoter named Jimmy Rabbitte who forms a soul band with a group of extremely clumsy, inexperienced, white Dubliners. Like The Van and The Snapper, this is a film you’ve probably seen about five or six times over the course of your life, but one you’ll still continue to keep watching every time it’s on the telly.

High & Dry (Channel 4, 10.30pm)

A new series that looks at a man called Douglas Jennings who finds himself stranded on a deserted island with only a flight attendant for company after his flight crashes somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Douglas and flight attendant Brett Sullivan are later joined by three other survivors, who turn out to be pretty strange. Not strange as in “the others” from Lost, but strange as in obsessed with zombies and extremely neurotic.

Everybody’s talking about… Stranger Things 3.

There’s news that the next chapter of Stranger Things could be followed by two more series, which is exciting. Focusing on this year’s series, it’s likely that it will be released very late in the year and photos from set suggest that Chief Hopper will lose the beard and get a mustache instead. The Stranger Things kids are ageing so quickly that the show will jump forward a year from where they were last season. All of the other updates and rumours can be read here.

• Gogglebox (Channel 4, 9pm) The Goggleboxers watch My Year with the Tribe, Only Connect, Love in the Countryside, Britain’s Best Home Cook and Britain’s Got Talent.
